NUMEROSI CORSI E LABORATORI
Sette italiane (Gloria Nati, Anna Capolupo, Cristina Mariani, Valentina Dentello, Deborah Zorzan, Sofia Bonini, Elisa Margarita) 3 polacchi, 3 taiwanesi, 2 giapponesi, un canadese, un russo, un Arabia Saudita/Taiwan, un Irlanda/Italia e un Polonia/Italia: ecco la composizione dei 20 artisti selezionati dalla prima giuria del Premio Valcellina, riunitasi qualche giorno fa, evento diretto a grandi passi verso le manifestazioni che fra aprile e maggio, a Maniago, lo vedranno al centro della scena artistica internazionale. Tagliando il traguardo della decima edizione e dunque festeggiando i suoi primi vent’anni di vita (il concorso è biennale) il prestigioso premio internazionale d’arte tessile contemporanea, dedicato ai giovani fiber-artisti di tutto il mondo per incoraggiarne il talento, stimolare la ricerca e la sperimentazione artistica, si conferma la manifestazione “vetrina” delle attività de Le Arti Tessili, associazione che ha sede a Maniago, presieduta da Annamaria Poggioli e che quest’anno taglia anche il traguardo dei 30 anni di impegno.
La giuria del premio – che a marzo si riunirà nuovamente per decretare i vincitori del concorso, per i quali sono previsti premi decisamente interessanti, trattandosi di borse di studio per la frequenza di corsi di studio e approfondimento dell’arte tessile in scuole prestigiose – era composta da Andrea Bruciati, storico dell’arte, attivo nel dibattito per la ricerca ed educazione dell’arte contemporanea, curatore di varie mostre ed eventi attinenti; Lydia Predominato, artista e fiber artista, docente, membro di varie giurie internazionali, curatrice di mostre ed eventi e Annamaria Poggioli, presidente dell’associazione Le Arti Tessili. Una scelta non facile, la loro, fra opere pervenute da tutto il mondo e che hanno entusiasmato i giurati, colpiti da come il tema scelto per questa 10. edizione del Premio, “Connection”, sia stato così ben interpretato a livello generale.
“Connection/Connessione”, ovvero in un mondo cui tutto è virtualmente connesso, per umanizzare la comunicazione e rendere i rapporti più emozionali e più autentici, possiamo oggi ricorrere alla flessibilità, caratteristica della struttura e duttilità dei tessili, premessa per uno scambio vero.
Parallelo e collegato al Premio è anche il progetto scuole, che si propone di trasmettere ai giovani delle scuole primarie e secondarie della regione l’interesse per l’arte tessile contemporanea attraverso incontri teorici e laboratori gestiti da insegnanti/relatori esperti di fiber art, forma d’arte che si configura come territorio contemporaneo sperimentale e dispositivo aperto, capace di dilatarsi e comprendere la pluralità.
Ed è inoltre ai blocchi di partenza anche un fitto calendario di corsi strutturati in modo tale da coinvolgere sia i semplici appassionati di fiber art che persone più esperte.

THAT WILL TURN MANIAGO INTO ONE OF THE CAPITALS OF FIBER ART
LAUNCH OF THE SCHOOL PROJECT AND SEVERAL OTHER COURSES AND WORKSHOPS
Seven from Italy (Gloria Nati, Anna Capolupo, Cristina Mariani, Valentina Dentello, Deborah Zorzan, Sofia Bonini, Elisa Margarita), three from Poland , three from Taiwan, two from Japan, one from Canada, one from Russia, one from Saudi Arabia/Taiwan, one from Ireland/Italy and one from Poland/Italy: this is the composition of the 20 artists selected by the Jury of the Valcellina Award, that met a few days ago, the event directed towards all the shows between April and May, in Maniago, that will be centre stage on the international scene. Crossing the finish line of the Tenth edition and celebrating its first twenty years of life (the competition is every two years) the prestigious international award of textile contemporary art, dedicated to young fiber-artists coming from all over the world to encourage talents, stimulating art research and experimentation, is again the showcase event of the activities of the Le Arti Tessili Association, established in Maniago and represented by Annamaria Poggioli who celebrates this year 30 years of commitment.
The Jury of the award – that will meet again in March in order to announce the winners of the competition , for which there are great interesting prizes , regarding scholarship for school attendance and enjoyment of the textile art in prestigious schools – was composed by Andrea Bruciati, art historian , active in the debate for contemporary art research and education, curator of many exhibitions and related events; Lydia Predominato, artist and fiber artist, teacher , member of various international juries, curator of exhibitions and events and Annamaria Poggioli, president of the Association Arti tessili. Not an easy choice for them , among the works from all the world that have enthused the juries, impressed by how the theme chosen for this 10th edition of the Award , “Connection”, has been globally so well interpreted.
“Connection/Connessione”, or in a world, where everything is connected by global network, in order to make communication more human and encourage genuine emotional relationships we can recur today to flexibility, a characteristic of the structure of fabric/textiles, essential for real exchange.
Next and connected to the Award is also the school project, that wants to transmit to young people of primary and secondary schools of the region the interest in the contemporary textile art with theoretical meetings and workshops leaded by teachers/relators experts in fiber art, an art form that acts as a contemporary experimental territory and an accessible instrument, able to expand and understand the plurality.
Furthermore on the starting blocks there will also be a rich calendary of structured courses that will involve both simple or fiber art lovers and more experienced people.
